The Fiesta Bowl was established all the way back in 1971 for sides from the Western Athletic Conference, but became embroiled in CFP lore since it joined the Bowl Championship Series (BCS) lineup in 1998.
Now it takes on a new look in 2024 by becoming the host of quarterfinals and semifinals games on an alternating basis to add even more esteem and prestige to one of the NCAA’s most popular matches.
And it has the potential for an excellent clash between Ashton Jeanty’s Broncos, who finished top of the Mountain West Conference, and Drew Allar’s Nittany Lions, who finished third in the Big 10 Conference.
The Broncos beat the UNLV Rebels 21-7 in the Mountain West Championship to reach this phase of the competition, whilst the Nittany Lions dispatched of the SMU Mustangs in a 38-10 rout.
When is the Fiesta Bowl?
The 2024 Fiesta Bowl between the Boise State Broncos and Penn State Nittany Lions will take place on Tuesday, December 31.
It will be hosted at the Arizona Cardinals’ NFL home, the State Farm Stadium. Kick-off at 19:30 ET/16:30.
