In a surprising turn of events, the Scorpions have announced the suspension of two of their band members. Lead guitarist Matthias Jabs and drummer Mikkey Dee have been temporarily sidelined due to health-related issues.
Matthias Jabs suffered a severe accident in his rented summer house, resulting in a broken left pinky and heel. He underwent surgeries on both injuries and is currently focusing on rehabilitation. In a statement, Jabs expressed his regret, saying, “I will try everything to be able to play guitar again on stage as soon as possible.” Due to his condition, the band had
to cancel their German tour dates in September 2024.
Meanwhile, drummer Mikkey Dee faced a serious health scare after being hospitalized with sepsis during the holiday season. He spent three weeks in the hospital undergoing multiple operations. Dee has since returned home and is on the path to recovery. Addressing rumors about his departure from the band, Dee clarified, “NO, I AM NOT LEAVING SCORPIONS!” He remains optimistic about rejoining the band for their upcoming performances, including the Las Vegas residency starting on February 27, 2025.
The Scorpions have expressed their deep regret over these unforeseen circumstances and have assured fans that they are working closely with organizers to provide updates on rescheduled shows. They have also conveyed their gratitude for the fans’ understanding and support during this challenging period.
