Robert Saleh Fired: Is Nick Sirianni Next With Eagles?

Nick Sirianni may be on the hot seat as head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles but he wasn’t the first coach to be fired during the current cycle. That honor falls to New York Jets head coach Robert Saleh Tuesday morning. Despite a mediocre 2-3 start to the season, Saleh was fired after speaking to reporters on Monday – showing that the decision came quickly and decisively from owner Woody Johnson. Could Nick Sirianni be next? Much like Saleh, Sirianni entered the season on the hot seat after a disappointing year in 2023. Unlike Saleh, Sirianni has been to the playoffs in each of his first three seasons as head coach.

There’s a level of success Sirianni has had that makes it very difficult to see the Eagles simply firing him during the regular season. Since Jeffrey Lurie took over as owner of the Eagles, he’s only fired a head coach once in season.

That happened with Chip Kelly in 2015 and happened during the final game of the regular season. It’s hard to see that happening with Sirianni leading into the middle portion of the season.

But that doesn’t mean that Sirianni won’t be like Robert Saleh at the end of the day. Both could be on the unemployment line in the coming months.
