Everton sealed three points against Brighton & Hove Albion after Iliman Ndiaye’s penalty secured a 1-0 victory.
Coming into the game on the back of a big result against Tottenham Hotspur, David Moyes will have been keen to see how his players reacted.
The win against Spurs took Everton four points clear of the relegation zone but also set a heightened expectation from the fans.
Everton are looking to make two signings before the end of the winter window despite now pulling seven points clear.
The early signs under Moyes have been really promising with two consecutive wins now to their name in the Premier League.
And the three points on Saturday were secured through the only goal of the game from Ndiaye who even impressed the home fans.
Everton’s Iliman Ndiaye receives applauds from Brighton fans
There is little doubt who has been the standout player for Everton this season.
Even Jamie Carragher has praised Ndiaye for his performances since making his return to England over the summer.
And it was the Senegal international who put Everton in front during the first half with an inch-perfect penalty.
Reporting for Sky Sports from the Amex Stadium, Ben Grounds shared just how Ndiaye had the Brighton fans applauding even after scoring against their side.
“Even the home fans laughed as Ndiaye imitated being a seagull. Ridiculous to be booked for that. It was an act of hilarity at most,” he said.
“He was being heckled throughout the interminable wait and had to readjust the ball on the spot.”
Seamus Coleman has praised Ndiaye behind-the-scenes at Everton and what he brings to the dressing room.
But what he is providing the Toffees on the pitch this season cannot be questioned by anyone.

With Dominic Calvert-Lewin being withdrawn early on in the game with a suspected hamstring injury, Ndiaye really took on the responsibility.

And it was yet another fine display from the Senegalese forward who caused Brighton some real problems.
