The Oregon Ducks are headed to the first-ever 12-team College Football Playoff as the No. 1 team in the nation.
Oregon will have a first-round bye, finishing the regular season with a 13-0 record, including a 45-37 win over the Penn State Nittany Lions in the Big Ten title game.
As the Ducks prepare for the second round of the College Football Playoff, fans turned their attention to a Friday night matchup between Indiana and Notre Dame.
During the Fighting Irish’s first-round game, the Ducks received some major transfer portal news.
On Friday night, while the Hoosiers and Fighting Irish were battling on the field, Oregon received a commitment from USC defensive line transfer Bear Alexander.
Alexander played two years with the Trojans after transferring from Georgia ahead of the 2023 season. Throughout his collegiate career, Alexander has produced 3.5 sacks, four pass deflections and 61 tackles.
He originally committed to Georgia out of high school as a four-star prospect, ranked as the No. 9 defensive lineman and No. 50 overall player in the nation, per 247Sports.
Despite limited production throughout his college career, he was ranked as the No. 4 defensive lineman in the 247Sports transfer portal rankings.
As Alexander makes his way to Eugene, Oregon, to play for Dan Manning and the Ducks, the Big Ten squad will prepare for the College Football Playoff.
Their second-round matchup is scheduled for Jan. 1 at 5 p.m. ET. Oregon will play the winner of a matchup between No. 8 Ohio State and No. 9 Tennessee.
