The Ducks’ third-year head coach ‘loves what he has’ in Eugene
Oregon football head coach Dan Lanning spoke with Zach Gelb on The Zach Gelb Show last week, saying he no longer desires to become an NFL head coach.
With three head coaching jobs currently open at the professional level, Gelb asked Lanning if coaching in the NFL has ever crossed his mind. In response, the current Duck provided Oregon fans with a sigh of relief.
“It used to be a goal of mine. At this point, everybody can realize that I’m not going anywhere,” Lanning said. “I love what we have here. I’ve got three young boys that love Eugene. We have a lot of unfinished business that we hope to handle, and I’m enjoying the ride.

The Ducks’ “unfinished business” involves a College Football Playoff quarterfinal matchup with Ohio State at the Rose Bowl on Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2025.
The Buckeyes will look to avenge their 32-31 loss to Oregon earlier this season, while the Ducks hope to keep their unbeaten season rolling.
Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. PST, and the game will air on ESPN.
