As the Ohio State Buckeyes gear up for their College Football Playoff first-round matchup against the Tennessee Volunteers on Saturday night, they’ve been hit with some unfortunate transfer portal news.

On Friday, Matt Zenitz of CBS Sports and 247 Sports announced that Ohio State offensive tackle Zen Michalski is entering the transfer portal. “Ohio State offensive tackle Zen Michalski is entering the transfer portal, @APSportsAgency tells @CBSSports/@247Sports,” Zenitz said. “Former four-star recruit who had stepped into the starting lineup for Ohio State this year prior to suffering an injury.

” Michalski suffered a lower-body injury in the fourth quarter of Ohio State’s Week 9 game against Nebraska. That game marked his first career start, stepping in for Josh Simmons, who had already been ruled out for the season with an injury of his own. Over four seasons playing for Ryan Day’s Buckeyes, Michalski appeared in 19 games, primarily serving as a backup tackle and contributing on special teams.

Standing at 6-foot-6 and weighing 315 pounds, Michalski was a four-star recruit and the No. 208 prospect in the class of 2021. The Floyds Knobs, Indiana native, still has one season of eligibility remaining.
