Fans covered their eyes in horror when the Golden State Warriors’ Steph Curry hit the cold, hard floor of the Chase Center basketball court and left the game injured, threatening to end his campaign before it started. So will he be able to play in the 2024/25 NBA season?

The Warriors, looking to claw their way back into playoffs contention following a tough year last time out, took on the Sacramento Kings in a warm-up game on October 12 as Curry looked to get into fine shooting form.

But things went very wrong for the two-time MVP and 2024 Olympic Games gold medalist when he left the second quarter with a finger injury and headed to the medical center for x-ray examinations.

Fortunately for fans of the Bay Area basketball side, the guard had one hurt his finger and it’s nothing too “concerning” in the eyes and words of the Warriors’ head coach.

“I was assured at halftime that it was fine,” Steve Kerr said to reporters after the game. “X-Rays were negative.

“It wasn’t anything too concerning. But yeah, you always get nervous when he’s hurt.”

Curry headed to the gym the next day after taking the rest of the night off and is currently logged as a day-to-day, meaning the Warriors are monitoring his condition and won’t risk him if he seems too fragile.

Based on his stats, Curry was on pace for around 12 points and eight assists against the Kings, although his shooting wasn’t stellar at 4-14 (28.57%).

The Golden State Warriors are next on the court on Sunday, October 13 against the Detroit Pistons at the Chase Center, with tip-off in San Francisco expected at 20:30 ET/17:30 PT.

The Warriors are currently 3-0 for preseason and will open their 2024/25 NBA season on Wednesday, October 23 when they head to Oregon to play the Portland Trail Blazers at 22:00 ET/19:00 PT.
