The Georgia Bulldogs are currently preparing for their first game in the 12-team College Football Playoff, following a bye week in the first round. Georgia will go head-to-head with the Notre Dame Fighting Irish on Jan. 1 at 8:45 p.m. ET. The Bulldogs will be taking the field with backup quarterback Gunner Stockton leading the way, given Carson Beck’s recent injury diagnosis.
Beck will miss the remainder of the 2024 college football season after suffering an elbow injury against the Texas Longhorns in the SEC Championship Game. As Beck rehabs back into playing form, following elbow surgery, he’s made a decision on his future in college football.
On Saturday, Beck announced his intention to declare for the 2025 NFL draft, per ESPN’s Pete Thamel. Beck finished the 2024 college football season with 28 touchdowns and 3,485 yards with a 64.7 completion percentage. The 2024 season marked his second year as a full-time starter for the Bulldogs.
In his first campaign, in 2023, Beck produced 24 touchdowns and 3,941 yards with a 72.4 completion percentage. Georgia Bulldogs head coach Kirby Smart talks with quarterback Carson Beck (15).
John David Mercer-Imagn Images John David Mercer-Imagn Images Beck was originally recruited to the Bulldogs in 2020, listed as a four-star prospect, while being ranked the No. 9 pro-style quarterback and No. 254 overall player in the nation, per 247Sports. According to PFF, some of the top quarterback prospects in the 2025 NFL draft are Jalen Milroe, Cam Ward, Shedeur Sanders and Quinn Ewers. While these players have yet to officially declare for the draft, there’s wide speculation that this will be the pool that Beck enters.
