Ole Miss football was busy over the weekend, with several transfers visiting the campus and one committing to the Rebels. Wake Forest transfer wide receiver Deuce Alexander committed to Lane Kiffin with three years of eligibility remaining.
The redshirt freshman had been contacted by over 30 schools, including Auburn, Kentucky, Indiana, and Michigan. However, his next home will be Oxford, where he will join up with Lane Kiffin. He can’t wait to do so, posting a message on his socials to Kiffin.
Alexander joins recent pass-catching commits, such as De’Zhaun Stribling and Caleb Odom, who are both top-15-ranked transfer players in their positions. It will be interesting to see if Kiffin is happy with the position group, bringing in three players after losing three in Tre Harris, Jordan Watkins, and Antwane Wells, who will head to the NFL.
Deuce Alexander an underrated transfer for Ole Miss
In his second season with Wake Forest, Deuce Alexander totaled 36 receptions for 400 receiving yards and two touchdowns. After redshirting in his first season, he took a big jump in an inconsistent passing offense. However, he still managed the third-most receiving yards on the team.
During his 36 catches, Alexander showcased moments of brilliance, making plays that others can’t do. His body control is a top trait, and we have seen some past wide receivers at Ole Miss who have been able to catch passes they had no right to, the most recent Dayton Wade.
Alexander has excellent hand and ball-tracking skills and will be a great addition. The feeling is that Lane Kiffin and wide receivers coach George McDonald can tap into his potential further. McDonald is excellent at squeezing out every bit of talent from wide receivers, and Alexander has plenty not yet reached.
Playing most of his snaps out of the slot with the Demon Deacons, he will have to get past Cayden Lee as the starter, who saw a breakout season in his second season.
