Could Ole Miss target former Tennessee five-star wide receiver Mike Matthews?

Mike Matthews, a former five-star recruit and wide receiver for the Tennessee Volunteers, has announced his intention to enter the NCAA transfer portal. As a true freshman, Matthews appeared in 10 games, recording seven receptions for 90 yards and two touchdowns.

Given his high school accolades—ranked as the No. 6 wide receiver and No. 24 overall prospect nationally—Matthews is expected to attract significant interest from various programs. Potential landing spots include the University of Southern California (USC), Georgia, Clemson, Michigan, and Louisville.

While Ole Miss did not extend an offer to Matthews during his recruitment out of Parkview High School in Lilburn, Georgia, the Rebels may now consider pursuing him to bolster their receiving corps.

As the transfer portal activity unfolds, it remains to be seen which program will secure Matthews’ talents for the upcoming season.
