Chelsea have splashed the cash in previous years with some major investments, so it’s interesting to see they’re now linked with another £100m-rated player.
The Chelsea owners have injected so much cash to assemble the current Blues squad. Finally, head coach Enzo Maresca appears to be getting a tune out of the young and talented group of players.
In terms of big signings, the Blues paid over £100m each to bring Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez to Stamford Bridge. They’re both starting to show why they were valued so highly. Also, Ally McCoist praised the turnaround in Chelsea duo Caicedo and Fernandez.
Chelsea eye Brighton’s Joao Pedro
According to TBR Football, Chelsea have set their sights on Brighton attacker Joao Pedro as a transfer target.
It is explained that the Blues have been impressed by the development of the 23-year-old attacker since his move to the Amex Stadium in the summer of 2023.
The report adds that Brighton would demand close to £100m for Pedro and have no plans to let him go in the near future.
In addition, TBR mentions that a host of other clubs are also admiring the Seagulls star. Apparently, Liverpool have watched the Brazilian forward closely, plus Newcastle United are long-term admirers. Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich like the Brighton ace, too.
Should Chelsea push to sign Joao Pedro?
At the age of 23, Pedro is one of the most exciting young attackers in the Premier League. On top of being able to lead the line as a No.9, the skilful South American can drop deeper to knit play together as well.
In 49 first-team appearances for Brighton, he’s scored 24 goals and created six assists.
Brighton manager Fabian Hurzeler has described Pedro as “special” and “unbelievable” already this season, via Sussex World.
For Chelsea, Pedro definitely fits their profile in the transfer market. His mouth-watering £100m valuation should be a huge deterrent, though.
Blues strikers Nicolas Jackson and Christopher Nkunku have scored a combined total of 20 goals between them so far this season across all competitions. Admittedly, the bulk of Nkunku’s goals have been in various cup competitions because Jackson starts the majority of league games.
