Carlton Football Club Shares Heartbreaking 2025 Roster Update as Patrick Cripps and Two More Injuries Prolonged

In a devastating turn of events, Carlton Football Club has announced that star midfielder Patrick Cripps, along with two other key players, will have their injuries prolonged, casting doubt on their availability for the 2025 AFL season.

The club revealed the news in a statement today, confirming that Cripps, who has been a driving force in the Blues’ midfield, will not be able to fully recover from his ongoing back injury in time for the start of the season. Cripps, the 2021 Brownlow Medalist and club captain, had been hoping to make a swift return after missing a portion of the 2024 season due to the same injury, but recent assessments indicate that a longer recovery period is required.

“I’m heartbroken to share that my recovery is taking longer than expected,” Cripps said in an emotional statement. “I’m doing everything I can to return as quickly as possible, but it’s a long road ahead. My focus now is on getting back to my best for the team and our supporters.”

In addition to Cripps, the club confirmed that two other key players—Sam Docherty, the experienced defender, and Harry McKay, the powerful forward—are also facing extended recovery times. Docherty, who has been dealing with a chronic knee issue, will now need further surgery, while McKay’s recovery from a recent shoulder injury will also keep him sidelined longer than initially anticipated.

The news has sent shockwaves through the Carlton faithful, with supporters expressing their concern for the club’s leadership and depth ahead of the 2025 season. The trio’s prolonged absences will certainly leave a significant gap in Carlton’s lineup, with the team now facing a challenging start to the year.

Despite these setbacks, Carlton remains determined to press forward. The club has stated that it will continue to support the injured players through their rehabilitation process, ensuring they receive the best care possible in their return to full fitness.

“This is undoubtedly a tough period for the club, but we’re united and focused on building for the future,” said Carlton coach Michael Voss. “While these injuries are significant, we have full confidence in the resilience of our squad to step up and make the most of the opportunities ahead.”

Fans are hoping for a speedy recovery for Cripps, Docherty, McKay, and the rest of the team, as they work toward returning to action as soon as possible.
