Bruce Springsteen’s “Santa Claus is Comin’ to [+]
Bruce Springsteen isn’t usually the name that comes to mind when Christmas arrives. He’s not known for his holiday output, but like so many other singer-songwriters, and even quite a few rockers, he has released some music that fits in this time of year. The superstar’s most popular seasonal cut is not just back on the charts in one of the largest music markets—it’s a bigger win than ever before.
“Santa Claus is Comin’ to Town” appears on four music charts in the United Kingdom this week. The tune returns to half of them, and it reaches an all-time high on at least as many lists in what has turned out to be a very merry moment for Springsteen.
Most importantly, “Santa Claus is Comin’ to Town” jumps to a new best showing on the main list of the most-consumed songs in the U.K. The track barely misses out on becoming Springsteen’s latest top 40 hit, as it surges to No. 41. That’s a huge increase from where it landed last time around—down at No. 91—and the cut has never flown so far north.
“Santa Claus is Comin’ to Town” is also up to a new peak on the Official Singles Sales chart. The song resets its No. 84 high as it re-enters the ranking of the bestselling tracks across the country at No. 80
