Brighton’s €65M-Rated Star Not Ideal Fit for Liverpool Amid Man City, PSG Links

Paris Saint-Germain are among several clubs, including Chelsea, Liverpool, and Bayern Munich, linked with João Pedro as the January transfer window nears.

Transfer expert Graeme Bailey reports that Brighton are demanding close to £100 million for the forward, although they have no intention of selling him anytime soon.

With Pedro under contract until 2028, Brighton hold strong negotiating power. This season, the Brazilian has made ten appearances, scoring four goals and adding three assists.

Former Man United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown believes it will take a massive fee for Brighton to sell the player. Furthermore, Brown states that he doesn’t see Pedro as a fit for Liverpool.

“Brighton are going to demand a huge fee for him,” Brown told Football Insider. “I’ve heard there’s some interest from Liverpool, but how far along that interest is, I’m not sure. I’d be surprised if it happens in January, given the money it would cost and the sorts of deals which usually take place in the middle of the season.

“I remember watching Joao Pedro a lot when he was at Watford, and he’s certainly a talented player. I had doubts at the time about whether he would be able to step up to the real elite level, but he’s performing well for Brighton and clubs have been watching him. I must admit I’m still uncertain whether he’s the right fit for a side like Liverpool, but that will be up to their scouts to make their assessments.“

CaughtOffside recently reported that Liverpool and Arsenal are both preparing offers in the range of €55 million to €65 million for Pedro, with Manchester City also planning a move for the young striker.

The report notes that Pep Guardiola and Mikel Arteta are among those who believe he could enhance their attacking options.
