Dallas, TX – A disturbing incident occurred at the University of Texas, Dallas, on Monday, involving an alleged assault by a trans student on a conservative student.
According to eyewitnesses and video footage, the incident took place when Turning Point USA chapter President Paige Neumann was recording a video on campus. The suspect, identified as 20-year-old Liam Thanh Tam Nguyen, also known as Alyssa, allegedly grabbed a bike and swung a bike lock at Neumann.
The video footage, posted by Turning Point USA on social media, shows the suspect approaching Neumann and swinging the bike lock, hitting her in the head and damaging her phone. Another student, identified as Grace, also had her phone destroyed in the incident.
Neumann, who sustained a head injury from the incident, spoke about the experience on “The Ingraham Angle” on Tuesday. “It did hit the back of my head,” Neumann said. “That is exactly what happened. It hit me almost on my neck. If he would have aimed a little bit lower, I could have been paralyzed. I think he wanted to kill me.”
Neumann maintained that she did not provoke the incident and had not interacted with Nguyen prior to the alleged attack. “I [was] just talking with my officers as I do every week,” Neumann said. “I said zero words to him, and he started attacking me. He swung the bike lock. It hit our table, our phones were destroyed, and my head was severely injured.”
Nguyen was arrested and booked into Collin County Jail on the same day. The alleged assailant faces charges including two felony counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, attempting to take a weapon from an officer, and assault of a peace officer.
The University of Texas, Dallas, and local authorities are taking the matter seriously, with an ongoing investigation into the incident. Neumann has filed a police report with the university and plans to undergo X-rays to ensure her well-being.
The incident has sparked concerns about campus safety and the rise of violence against conservative students on college campuses.
