Kevin Harvick is a 60-time race winner, including the 2007 Daytona 500. He’s the 2014 NASCAR Cup Series champion. He is undoubtedly destined for the NASCAR Hall of Fame.
Since retiring after the 2023 campaign, the former Stewart-Haas Racing driver has kept busy, transitioning up to the NASCAR on Fox broadcast booth as an analyst and hosting his own “Happy Hour” podcast. Outside of work, he’s followed his 12-year-old son, Keelan, around the country in his blossoming racing career.
Many NASCAR fans are aware of the younger Harvick’s early success in Legends cars and see him following in his father’s footsteps and racing at the top levels of stock car racing in the future.
However, in the last several days, the pair haven’t been involved in any racing but NFL action, including a pair of games.
On Sunday the youngster was spotlighted in a video on the NFL’s X account for his pregame handshake with Carolina Panthers player Sam Franklin Jr.
“Sam Franklin Jr. has an incredible handshake with this young fan,” the post said.
Unsurprisingly, NASCAR fans were quick to point out the identity of the “young fan” and his famous father, who was sitting in the background of the video.
“That’s a former NASCAR champ and a future NASCAR champ,” wrote one fan.
“If you don’t know that young fan’s name, you will,” another responded.
On Tuesday, the 49-year-old former driver posted a photo on X of the pair attending Monday night’s matchup in Minnesota between the Vikings and Chicago Bears.
“Great experience last night @nfl game with this young fan!” Harvick wrote, obviously referencing the NFL’s original post.
Naturally, fans picked up on it and responded.
“Young fan,” JR Motorsports Xfinity Series driver Connor Zilisch wrote, including a crying laughing emoji.
“That young fan will remember that forever,” wrote a fan, also with a crying laughing emoji.
“Is young fan a Vikings or Panthers fan?” another questioned.
Harvick didn’t answer. Maybe it’s because they might be showing up at a stadium near you on Sunday.
