Alabama’s Jalen Milroe Projected To Replace Struggling $25 Million NFL QB

Alabama Crimson Tide quarterback Jalen Milroe received a new projection in a recent 2025 NFL mock draft.

On Friday, the football analysis platform The 33rd Team projected that Milroe will replace Las Vas Raiders quarterback Gardner Minshew, who is on a two-year deal with the Raiders worth $25 million, per Spotrac. The mock draft had Milroe taken with the sixth overall pick.

Minshew has thrown for 2,013 passing yards, nine touchdowns and 10 interceptions in 10 games this season. The Jacksonville Jaguars took him in the 2019 NFL draft after playing for East Carolina (2016-17) and Washington State (2018) in college.

As for Milroe, he had a new face coaching him on the sidelines this season. Nick Saban retired at the end of the 2023 season and was replaced by former Washington head coach Kalen DeBoer.

Alabama finished the regular season at 9-3 in DeBoer’s first season and Milroe threw for 2,652 passing yards, 15 passing touchdowns, 20 rushing touchdowns and 10 interceptions.

It was an interesting season for the Crimson Tide, to say the least, with losses to Vanderbilt, Tennessee, and Oklahoma.

Minshew played in 10 games for the Raiders before suffering a broken collarbone against the Denver Broncos in Week 12, ending his season. Since Minshew’s injury, Las Vegas has leaned on Aiden O’Connell and Desmond Ridder at quarterback.

O’Connell is expected to start in Sunday’s game against the Saints.

After beating the Jaguars 19-17 in their previous game, the Raiders enter Week 17 against the New Orleans Saints at 3-12. The win snapped a 10-game losing streak for the Raiders.

Milroe will play in No. 11 Alabama’s bowl game against Michigan but has not yet declared for the 2025 NFL Draft. The Crimson Tide face the Wolverines for the first time since last season’s Rose Bowl.

Michigan won that game in overtime 27-20 and advanced to the national championship.

The ReliaQuest Bowl kicks off on New Year’s Eve at noon ET on ESPN.
