Carlton Football Club is currently managing several key player injuries as they prepare for the 2025 AFL season. Captain Patrick Cripps has been dealing with a persistent back issue that affected his performance during the 2024 season. The club has implemented a tailored rehabilitation program for Cripps, focusing on strength and conditioning to ensure his full recovery. While there is optimism about his return, the club has not provided a specific timeline, emphasizing the importance of a cautious approach to avoid setbacks.

In addition to Cripps, forward Jack Silvagni is recovering from an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury sustained during the 2024 season. Silvagni has been progressing well in his rehabilitation, with Cripps noting that he is “tracking nicely” for a return in 2025. However, Cripps also mentioned that Silvagni will need to work diligently to regain his spot in the team, indicating a competitive environment within the squad.

Another player on the injury list is Sam Docherty, who suffered a knee injury in the 2024 season. Docherty has demonstrated remarkable resilience in his recovery, with reports suggesting he is firming as a chance to play in the upcoming finals. His potential return would be a significant boost for the Blues, given his leadership and experience on the field.

The club is also monitoring the rehabilitation of other players, including forward Tom Emmett, who was delisted after two seasons with the club. Emmett played 15 games and kicked 11 goals during his tenure. Ruckman Max Knobel was also delisted; however, Fremantle had initially committed to reselecting him in the Rookie Draft. Despite this intention, the Gold Coast Suns selected Knobel in the AFL Rookie Draft, preventing his return to the Dockers.

Carlton’s medical and coaching staff are working closely with all injured players to facilitate their recoveries and ensure they are fit to contribute effectively in the 2025 season. The club remains optimistic about the return of these key players and is committed to providing the necessary support throughout their rehabilitation processes.
