Map shows where across the U.S. northern lights could be visible Wednesday night

Nature’s light show continues this month, if you can get to the right place to see it.

According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Space Weather Prediction Center, the auroras could be visible in parts of the northern United States Wednesday night.

We are still at the peak of solar cycle 25, an approximately 11-year cycle of magnetic activity coming from the sun.

This solar cycle started in December 2019 and it is in “solar maximum,” heading towards its peak next summer. Solar maximum will last into 2026.

This peak period has made the northern lights visible in places that usually don’t get to see them.

On Wednesday, Oregon isn’t on the list of states where the aurora could be visible. But our neighbor, Washington is. So is the very tip of Idaho, another neighbor.

Nearly half of Montana and most of North Dakota are within the view line of the northern lights Wednesday.

People in Minnesota, Wisconsin and Michigan will also get a chance to see the show if it materializes.

Are you in a spot in the U.S. that could see auroras on Wednesday night? Check the map.

To view the lights, stay away from light pollution and look toward the northern horizon.
