Curry signed a $62.6 million contract extension that extends his existing contract through the 2026–2027 campaign. Upon contract termination, he will turn 39. Curry could have signed a more lucrative two-year agreement that will run until he is forty years old after the 2019–20 season, which would have increased pressure on the Warriors front management to surround him with additional talent. But in contrast to what happened the previous year, he desired a season devoid of drama. Curry told The Athletic, “I’ve always said I wanted to play for one team my whole career.”
