No wedding bells are ringing for tennis power couple Jannik Sinner and Anna Kalinskaya.
Well, not yet anyway with the pair insisting there has been no marriage proposal, but Kalinskaya is “thankful” for the congratulatory messages.
World No 1 Sinner and fellow tennis star Kalinskaya started dating earlier this year, but their romance only became public during the French Open in May when they were seen at a Paris restaurant and social media soon became abuzz about the newest power couple in the sport.
The Italian didn’t waste any time confirming their relationship status as admitted during a press conference: “I don’t like to talk about my private life much, but yes, Anna and I are dating.”
Since then the couple have been spotted holidaying together in Sardinia and they often make appearances at each other’s tennis matches with Kalinskaya recently attending Sinner’s China Open final match against Carlos Alcaraz.
With the relationship seemingly going well, rumours started doing the rounds after Sinner’s US Open title run that he had asked the Russian to marry him.
But those rumours appear to be wide off the mark as the two-time Grand Slam winner was asked about his impending nuptials after his third-round win at the Shanghai Masters.
“My wedding? It’s new news for me too (smiles). Nothing happened with Anna, I didn’t ask her to marry me,” he is quoted as saying by Ubitennis’ Giovanni Pelazzo.
“I just read some details, that it would happen after the US Open… but no it’s all false, it’s fake news.”
Kalinskaya also took to social media to address reports that she is about to tie the knot with the 23-year-old.
“To clarify things about fake rumors: this is not true ,” the world No 13 – who is in action at the Wuhan Open this week – wrote on an Instagram Story.
“Thank you for all your congratulations. False start.”
