Nicole Piastri, mother of McLaren Formula 1 star Oscar Piastri, has described a “horrifying” moment she experienced while watching her son race.
Speaking on 4BC Brisbane about the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, Nicole Piastri recounted the tense first corner battle between her son and Max Verstappen. She said, “It’s just the risk, and it’s not so much Oscar, it’s people around him.”
She elaborated on her son’s cautious nature, saying, “He’s very cautious by nature, and he’s very calculated and clever in the way that he does everything. He took on Max at the first corner, which was a bit horrifying. But typically, he won’t take risks. But you can’t trust that those around him won’t.”
Following her son’s victory and him taking the championship lead, Nicole Piastri had posted on X: “Longest. Race. Ever.” She clarified on the radio that this was due to the nerves she felt watching the race.
