Liam Payne’s girlfriend Kate Cassidy shares one of the letters he wrote to her

Six months after Liam Payne’s tragic death, his girlfriend Kate Cassidy opened up about their relationship and final goodbye in an emotional interview on Jay Shetty’s podcast. Cassidy shared a heartfelt letter Payne wrote to her, accompanying a gift of a watch with no numbers, symbolizing eternal love. The letter read, “The reason I picked this watch out for you is because it doesn’t have any numbers on it, and my love for you is endless. It literally means eternity. So now every time you look down at your wrist, you can know and remember that my love for you is timeless.”

Cassidy got emotional reading the letter, noting the pain of processing their abrupt separation. “It’s just so hard to process that we thought we had all this time, and he thought we had all this time, and it was just taken away.” She reflected on their final day together in Argentina, describing a picturesque scene: waking up to a lovely breakfast, horseback riding in the countryside, and a heartfelt goodbye.

The couple had a habit of sharing long, emotional goodbyes, often hugging and expressing their love for at least five minutes. On their last day together, Cassidy recalled going back into the guest house, grabbing her suitcase, and sitting on the couch, where she expressed her love and longing for Payne. In one of the last things Payne said to Cassidy, he jokingly told her she was going to miss her flight, saying, “Kate, like you’re gonna miss your flight, your car’s in the driveway. You’re acting like this is the last time you’re ever gonna see me again.”

Cassidy laughed, unaware it would be their final farewell. “I just laughed back. I was just like, ‘I know I’m being silly. I need to get in the car. I can’t miss my flight.'” Looking back, she finds it chilling to know that was their last goodbye. Despite the pain, Cassidy admits that final goodbye also brings her peace, feeling blessed for their heartfelt, beautiful moment together. Payne passed away on October 16, 2024, after falling from a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires, Argentina, at 31.
