Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is heartbroken over the loss of his beloved French bulldog, Hobbs. He shared the news on Instagram, expressing his grief and saying he’s been “numb” since Hobbs passed away quietly in the night.
Johnson adopted Hobbs and his brother Brutus in 2015, and the two dogs quickly became integral members of his family. Hobbs was even named after Johnson’s character Luke Hobbs from the Fast & Furious franchise, and he went on to appear in the 2019 spin-off movie Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs and Shaw. Johnson jokingly referred to Hobbs as “the biggest star the Fast & Furious franchise has ever seen”.
Just recently, Hobbs joined Johnson for a cover shoot with GQ magazine in November 2024. Johnson shared photos from the shoot, showcasing the special bond between him and Hobbs, including one where he’s using Hobbs as a pillow.
The loss of Hobbs is particularly poignant for Johnson, who had previously lost Brutus to a tragic accident involving a poisonous mushroom. Johnson has used his platform to warn other pet owners to be mindful of the dangers of mushrooms in their yards, parks, or anywhere outside where dogs play.
As Johnson navigates his grief, he finds comfort in believing that Hobbs is reunited with his brother Brutus in “doggie heaven”. The actor’s heartfelt tribute to Hobbs is a testament to the deep bond they shared, and fans around the world are sending their condolences to Johnson and his family.
