FIFA’s Infantino Points to US Hosting 2031 Women’s World Cup and UK Getting 2035 Edition

FIFA President Gianni Infantino has dropped a major hint that the United States will host the 2031 Women’s World Cup, while the United Kingdom is poised to secure the hosting rights for the 2035 edition.

In a significant development, Infantino revealed that FIFA is inclined to award the 2031 Women’s World Cup to the US, which has previously hosted the tournament in 1999 and 2003. The US Soccer Federation (USSF) had confirmed its bid for the 2031 Women’s World Cup in March 2025, after FIFA narrowed down the eligible regions to North America, Central America, and the Caribbean (Concacaf) and Africa (CAF).

The USSF’s bid is seen as a strong contender, given the country’s proven track record of hosting successful international soccer tournaments. The 2026 men’s World Cup is also scheduled to take place in the US, along with Canada and Mexico.

In a related development, Infantino also indicated that the UK is well-placed to host the 2035 Women’s World Cup. The Football Associations of England, Northern Ireland, Scotland, and Wales have expressed their intention to submit a joint bid to FIFA, with an Expression of Interest already in the works.

The UK has a rich history of hosting successful international soccer tournaments, including the 2022 European Women’s Football Championship, which was won by England on home soil. The UK’s bid for the 2035 Women’s World Cup is expected to be a strong one, given the country’s world-class infrastructure, passionate fan base, and proven expertise in hosting major international events.

FIFA is expected to make an official announcement on the hosting rights for the 2031 and 2035 Women’s World Cups in the coming months.
