ALABAMA A&M MEN’S BASKETBALL COACH OTIS HUGHLEY JR. RESIGNS

Normal, AL – Alabama A&M University’s men’s basketball coach, Otis Hughley Jr., has resigned from his position, effective immediately. This decision was announced by the university’s Director of Athletics, Dr. Paul A. Bryant, on Tuesday.

Hughley Jr. had been leading the Bulldogs for three seasons, with an overall record of 37-63 (.370). Despite his efforts, the team struggled to find consistent success during his tenure.

“We want to thank Otis Hughley Jr. for his tenure at Alabama A&M University,” said Dr. Bryant. “We wish him well in all his future endeavors.”

The university will now embark on a national search for Hughley Jr.’s replacement. The new coach will be tasked with rebuilding the program and leading the Bulldogs to success in the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC).

We are committed to finding a coach who can restore the pride and competitiveness of our men’s basketball program,” said Dr. Bryant. “We will conduct a thorough search to identify the best candidate for the position.”

Hughley Jr.’s resignation comes after a disappointing season, which saw the Bulldogs finish with a 7-22 overall record and a 5-13 record in the SWAC.

The men’s basketball program at Alabama A&M has a rich history, having won several conference championships and producing talented players who have gone on to successful careers in the NBA and overseas.

The university is expected to name an interim coach in the coming days, who will lead the team through the remainder of the season.

As the search for a new coach begins, fans and alumni of Alabama A&M are eagerly awaiting the opportunity to restore the program to its former glory.
